Scoble interviews an IBM Distinguished Engineer (DE) about Marketing, and expects that to be a surprise. It might be to someone outside IBM, but given that my last meeting with a DE ended with a discussion on Economic theory, it comes as little surprise to me – in my opinion, even technical leaders in a technical company have to understand the business world around them to do their jobs well.
About
I’m David Illsley, I work in Web Services development at IBM Hursley, which involves work on the Apache WS Project, where I am a committer and PMC member. When not working with technology, I spend a lot of time on the backstage aspects of theatre, and a sadly decreasing amount of time reading.
