Distinguished “Engineer”

Scoble interviews an IBM Distinguished Engineer (DE) about Marketing, and expects that to be a surprise. It might be to someone outside IBM, but given that my last meeting with a DE ended with a discussion on Economic theory, it comes as little surprise to me - in my opinion, even technical leaders in a technical company have to understand the business world around them to do their jobs well.
