Freedom

I bought a car a few weeks ago and the freedom it provieds is beginning to appear (to this point it had just meant working longer hours!). I’m involved in the Maskers production ‘Wind in the Willows‘ which is on at Mottisfont Abbey which is a bit out of the way. With my shiny new car I can simply drive out and back whenever suits me whereas without it I probably could not be involved.

More Web Services from WebSphere

I’ve told a number of people that recently I’ve been working on lots of different things. WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 6.1 was one of them and it went to World Wide General Availability last week (we got cakes in the office and everything). Another of the things I’ve been working on is a ‘Feature Pack’ for WAS 6.1 which will add extra web services functionality that isn’t in WAS 6.1.

This is being done in a pretty public way with an open early access programme. So if you’re interested in what we’re doing and what’s coming in the future, head on over to IBM.com and give it a go.

About

I’m David Illsley, I work in Web Services development at IBM Hursley, which involves work on the Apache WS Project, where I am a committer and PMC member. When not working with technology, I spend a lot of time on the backstage aspects of theatre, and a sadly decreasing amount of time reading.
