I’m safely in dc, melting in the heat and humidity
Well I’ve been in Southern California for over a week now and I’m having a great time. I had a brilliant week with Anne, and I’m now with Karen in San Diego until Thursday when the East Coast leg of the trip starts. There would be more postings but for the poor state of GPRS over here which hampers my moblogging.
Safe and sound in LA
I have a seat
I suppose that makes this 12 hour flight inevitable then…

Waiting…

Well i’m on my way, but the signs aren’t great. Apparently my flight to los angeles is overbooked… But i have to wait until heathrow for that to be confirmed. Fingers crossed!
Well tomorrow morning i’m off one my much planned, actually going to happen whistle-stop tour of America. I’m visiting Anne and Karen in California, Sarah in DC, Alex in Baltimore… and maybe, just maybe Jeff in New York. I’ll have my mobile for emergencies, and I’ll be trying to check e-mail but I dunno how often I’ll be doing that. Because of the vast volume of e-mail I get (most of which is actually of very little interest) I’ve set up an e-mail address just for this holiday. I’ll be checking this account more regularly over the 3 weeks so send stuff (just for this 3 weeks) to usa@davidillsley.co.uk
I’ll be trying to post some stuff here during the holiday, but again that’ll depend a lot on internet access. To anyone reading, have a great July and I’ll see you soon.

So by now I think pretty much everyone must know that terrorists attacked London this morning. A terrible act, one which deserves nothing but condemnation.
Happily, as far as I know no-one I know has been hurt though my heart goes out to those people and their families which have been affected.
One thing is certain: We must stand together against terrorism. It must never be allowed to win. We must not sacrifice out liberties to terrorism of they will have won.
